In 2025 Oakleys celebrated 150 years of service to Cantabrians, supplying beautiful bathroomware and quality plumbing fittings to all sectors of the industry. The company began life as Taylor & Oakley in 1875 and, though ownership and locations have changed over the years, its values remain the same: locals supporting locals, exceptional service and quality products.
Oakleys’ response to major events such as World War II, the Christchurch earthquakes and the pandemic strengthened its reputation as a company committed to supporting local people, projects and communities. The business has played a part in shaping the look and functionality of the modern post-quake city.
In late 2024 the company completed a major renovation of its Cashel Street showroom, inspiring homeowners and designers with innovative concept bathrooms and carefully curated product combinations, reinforcing Oakleys’ place at the forefront of the market.

Oakleys Dunedin opened in 2009. The city’s mix of heritage homes, education facilities, port activity and government infrastructure created demand for a full-service plumbing merchant capable of servicing all trade and design requirements.
Owner-operator Dean Stuart’s dedication to customer service quickly established a bustling warehouse and made Oakleys the preferred merchant for many of the region’s plumbers and trade companies. The showroom consultants work closely with homeowners, designers and builders on residential and light commercial projects.
In 2024 the branch completed a major showroom renovation featuring walk-in concept bathrooms and carefully selected product displays suited to a wide range of domestic applications, reinforcing Oakleys’ reputation as Otago’s go-to destination for all things water.

In 2025 Mosgiel was recognised as the fastest-growing area in the greater Dunedin region. Significant residential expansion, infrastructure upgrades, retirement housing and logistics development were either underway or planned across the Taieri Plains.
In response to increasing demand from trade customers, Dean Stuart opened a new Oakleys branch in the centre of the region’s development activity. The trade-only store was warmly welcomed by both loyal and new customers working throughout the area.

Over the past two decades Richmond has transformed from a small service town into a major urban centre for the Nelson Tasman region, with growth driven by tourism, retirement migration and expansion from neighbouring Nelson.

Oakleys Cromwell opened in 2019 in partnership with owner-operator Patrick Rivett. Centrally located within Central Otago, Cromwell was rapidly evolving into a commuter hub, logistics centre and attractive alternative to Queenstown living.
The branch’s stunning showroom became the inspiration for Oakleys’ wider showroom renovation programme undertaken in subsequent years and remains a drawcard for homeowners, architects and designers throughout the region.
